- When prefix ད་ comes before the root letter བ་, then it gets a high tone “wa” sound. If there is a YA-TAK (བྱ་) then it gets a high tone “ya” sound. If there is a RA-TAK (བྲ་) then it gets a high tone “ra” sound. With a shab-choo (བུ) it goes silent.
- When prefixes འ་ and མ་ are in the 2nd syllable, they generally create a nasal sound (usually an “n” sound). A nasalized sound is also produced when ཟླ་ is the 2nd syllable, or if the second syllable has a LAN-GO superscript.
- When བ་ is the 2nd or 3rd syllable of a word, it gets pronounced as “wa” (unless there is a shab-choo, ex. འབྲས་བུ)
