Jetsunma Tenzin Palmo is an author, teacher and founder of the Dongyu Gatsal Ling Nunnery in Himachal Pradesh, India. She moved to India at the age of 20 and in 1964 became only the second Western woman to be ordained in the Tibetan tradition. Tenzin Palmo completed a remarkable 12 year solo retreat in a cave in Lhadak. She has since has been deeply engaged in advocating for and training young nuns in India. Her excellent book, Cave in the Snow, chronicles her long retreat.
